Dead Rails Wiki — Classes, Trains, Weapons & Guides
Dead Rails puts up to sixteen players on a coal-fired train and sends them across a zombie-choked desert toward a cure waiting in Mexico. Loot towns, unlock classes, bolt armour onto the carriages and keep the boiler fed long enough to reach the bridge at 80 km.

What is Dead Rails?
Dead Rails is a Roblox survival adventure from RCM Games, set in an 1899 America overrun by a zombie plague. A cure exists in Mexico, and the only practical way to reach it is a steam train that a crew of up to sixteen players must crew, fuel and defend across a procedurally generated wasteland.
Train as a Mobile Base
Your locomotive carries the crew, the loot and the armour. Fuel it, plate the windows and keep the driver cabin reachable or the run ends where you stop.
Class Economy
Bonds buy classes, guns and gear in the lobby, and purchases are lost when the run ends. Cheap utility classes usually beat an expensive pick you cannot equip.
Night Cycle
Enemies begin spawning around 11 PM and stop at 5 AM. Full moons, blood moons and storms change which enemies appear and how fast they close distance.
Bonds & Mastery
Bonds fund every purchase, while class mastery XP unlocks ability trees for Cowboy, Doctor, Miner, Vampire, Horse and Necromancer.
Each run mixes looting, combat, economy and train management. Players scavenge valuables, spend Bonds at shops and the Tailor, unlock specialised classes, and fortify the locomotive before nightfall brings faster zombies, vampires, werewolves and outlaw ambushes. Reaching the 80 km bridge and lowering it completes the run; harder modes and seasonal events add new bosses, classes and currencies.

Dead Rails Class Quick Reference
A starting point for picking a role. Costs and mastery notes reflect the current build; community testing may update individual values after a patch.
Train Tier Overview
Fourteen locomotives trade speed, cargo space and armour differently. These are the engines most crews will meet first.
Weapon Stats Quick Reference
Raw damage, ammo and source for the guns that matter most. Treat the numbers as a baseline: community testing can lag behind a patch.
Enemy & Boss Counters
Know what is closing in before you shoot. Spawn rules and counters matter more than raw health once the moon changes.
Zombie
Counter: Melee only; fight in doorways
Fast Zombie
Counter: Cloudy full moon; use a shotgun
Outlaw
Counter: Trade shots from cover; bounty at Sheriff
Vampire
Counter: Watch for teleports; use holy water
Werewolf
Counter: Crucifix deletes it; else rifle headshots
Captain Prescott
Counter: Fort Constitution boss at 60 km
Item Value Quick Reference
Sell, burn or carry: the loot that actually changes a run. Full farming routes and event currencies are covered in the Items hub.
Game Modes Explained
Pick the mode before you buy a class. Some unlocks only progress in specific modes, and event modes rotate new bosses into the route.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I keep the train moving in Dead Rails?+
Feed the stove with coal, wood, paper, furniture or tumbleweed and keep at least one crew member near the controls. Coal is the most efficient common fuel, so buy it whenever a town vendor sells it. If the boiler runs dry the train stops, and a stopped train in open desert during spawn hours is one of the fastest ways to lose a run.
Which class should I buy first?+
Doctor at 15 Bonds is the safest first purchase because bandages and revives keep a public lobby alive. Miner at the same price gives coal and a helmet light for night looting. Cowboy is the strongest choice once you can aim consistently, because the starting revolver saves money on the first two towns.
What is the fastest way to farm Bonds?+
Run daylight loot loops through small towns and sheriff offices, sell valuables at a Trading Post, then push toward the Castle around 40 km where the mid-run bond density is highest. Bite Sized runs are popular for repeating this loop quickly, and a coordinated crew clears buildings faster than a solo player.
How do I finish a Dead Rails run?+
Reach 80 km, clear the Outlaw Fort area and lower the bridge, then survive the final assault. Bring a rifle or better for bosses, stack metal sheets on the cabin, and bank Bonds before the attempt because lobby purchases are not refunded if the crew wipes.
Does Dead Rails have codes?+
No. Dead Rails has no redeem code system, so any page promising working codes for Bonds or classes is guessing. Bonds, grave silver and event currencies are earned by playing: looting, bounties, bosses and seasonal events such as Dead of Night.
Can you play Dead Rails solo?+
Yes, but solo runs demand stricter discipline. Pick a class with self-sustain, avoid open desert at night, and only take fights you can finish before more spawns arrive. Solo players usually ignore optional bosses and focus on fuel, armour and reaching the bridge with a working engine.
What is the hardest mode in Dead Rails?+
Scorched Earth is widely treated as the toughest standard challenge because hazards and enemy pressure are harsher, while Nightmare tightens resources and spawns. Both reward more Bonds for a completed run, so attempt them only after your crew can clear the normal route consistently.
